What is Occupational Therapy?
Occupational therapy focuses on enhancing individuals' ability to participate in daily activities that are meaningful to them. Our occupational therapists work with people of all ages and abilities to address physical, social, cognitive, and emotional challenges. Through personalised interventions, we help individuals regain independence, improve functional skills, and achieve their goals for a fulfilling life.
Our occupational therapy services are designed to empower individuals across all stages of life. We dedicate our work in three key areas:
PRODUCTIVITY
Productivity speaks to anything you find productive and meaningful. For an adult this may be cooking or gardening. A child this may be play or sport or anything you love!
SELF-CARE
Self-care refers to anything you need to do to look after yourself. Whether this is showering, eating, getting out into the fresh air or simply brushing your hair.
LEISURE ACTIVITIES
Leisure is often where the fun comes in, if you enjoy it and its meaningful then we can help you work ways to increase your performance in this area.
What happens once I have made a referral?
Once we receive your referral, if we have availability we will contact you to organise and initial meet. Occupational Therapy focuses on providing people with personalised therapy, so our first goal is to get to know you and work out how we might be able to help you. Likewise, you need to feel we are a good fit for you!
We will meet, have a conversation (or for the paediatric clients, have a play;). From there we can discuss things we may be able to do to help you achieve your goals.
Where will the therapy session be?
Typically as a community OT we will conduct sessions at your home. Sometimes sessions can take place at a community location (e.g. the community centre), a school, or your favourite park. Ultimately we will work with you to make sure therapy takes place in a comfortable location suited to your needs.
How can occupational therapy help me?
Occupational therapy is a valuable resource for individuals looking to enhance their daily functioning and overall well-being. It helps people develop, recover, or maintain daily living and work skills through personalised treatment plans. By focusing on specific goals, occupational therapy empowers individuals to achieve greater independence and improve their quality of life. Whether it's through adaptive techniques or therapeutic activities, the support of an occupational therapist can make a significant difference in a person's journey to wellness.
How can strength & conditioning help me?
Strength and conditioning isn’t just for athletes—it can play a powerful role in a anyones daily performance for both adults and children.
FOR CHILDREN

We use movement-based therapy to support children in building their gross motor skills (like running, jumping, and coordination) and fine motor skills (like writing, cutting, and using their hands for daily tasks). By focusing on strength, balance, and body awareness, we help children gain confidence in their movement, meet key developmental milestones, and feel more capable in everyday activities—whether at home, school, or in the playground. Through movement-based therapy, we can also help children build social and cognitive skills like following instructions, taking turns, problem-solving, and staying focused—skills that are key for school readiness and confident learning.

FOR ADULTS

Our strength and conditioning modalities can help anyone build strength, improve stamina, and enhance flexibility and mobility, which are essential for performing daily activities more effectively and with less effort. Whether you are hoping to improve your balance, your independence or work on a specific skill or hobby, our strength and condition techniques can help you achieve those goals.

Benefits of Strength and Conditioning in Occupational Therapy:
IMPROVED PHYSICAL FUNCTION
IMPROVED DEVELOPMENTAL MILESTONES
Enhancing strength and endurance supports better performance of everyday tasks like balancing, lifting, carrying, walking or playing.
Aspects of strength and condition can be incorporated into our practice to help with children's gross and fine motor development.
INJURY PREVENTION
By increasing physical capabilities, individuals can maintain or regain independence in all aspects of their life.
